K is for Kittens

“A catless writer is almost inconceivable. It’s a perverse taste, really, since it would be easier to write with a herd of buffalo in the room than even one cat; they make nests in the notes and bite the end of the pen and walk on the typewriter keys.”
-Barbara Holland
If you've come looking for a post in which I gush endlessly about my cats and post tons and tons of pictures, well then....

...er, actually, you've come to the right place.

If you dislike these types of posts, feel free to skip it and come back tomorrow, when I return to normal and blog about an interesting subject that starts with the letter "L."

For anyone who's still left...

This is Buster Keaton. He's a long haired tabby, seven months old, and we call him "Baby."

Sitting in the box (on the pink fluffy tutu) is Sherlock. He's a short haired eight month old tabby cat.

Fun (and odd) fact: his birthday is the day after mine.

Sherlock is the patient one. Baby - well, he sleeps a lot.

See what I mean?

Sherlock patiently endures being brushed. I love the look on his face.

Okay, so I realize that all the pictures I have of Buster are of him asleep.

Look at those creepily intense eyes. We believe that Sherlock is actually a reincarnated soul. We haven't figured out who, yet.

Do you have or have you ever had cats? Are you more of a dog person?

  2. Sometimes he sits at your feet looking into your face with an expression so gentle and caressing that the depth of this gaze startles you. Who can believe that there is no soul behind those luminous eyes!

  3. I love these types of posts! I absolutely adore cats and have always had one running around somewhere. We've just got the one now but she's a sweetheart.

  4. @Kyra - I would love to read that! You should write one!

@Iliadfan - I know, me too. I feel like one of those old ladies who think their cats are their 'children' when I take them, but I can't help it!

@Ava - wow. That's deep. Maybe Sherlock is actually Theophile Gautier... ;)

@Jessica - Glad you liked the post. This is the first time I've owned cats, and I absolutely love them. :)

  6. Aww that was sweet. I don't usually like cat posts, but you did this one right. Just the right amount of words to pictures and humor to aww ;)

We have three cats and one dog, and I totally agree with you about buffalo being an easier distraction to deal with :)

  7. I grew up with a cat from the age of 5 to 19. She was pretty daft, but we think she'd boiled her brains out because she liked to sit along the top of radiators! My parents have two sisters now. We would probably get a cat, but my wife is allergic to the hair. Shame!
